Equine Facilitated Therapy

EFP is a short term, effective therapeutic approach where participants interact with horses in their natural environment.

EFP is suitable for people of all ages and I provide sessions from the age of 11 upwards.

What is EFP?

It is a collaborative activity between client and horse that encourages deeper emotional understanding and personal awareness.  All the work is done on the ground so no riding is involved and no previous experience of being around horses is necessary.

How long does it last?

This therapy typically lasts for between 6 to 8 sessions.  It can continue more long term if required.

What are the benefits and focus?

The impact of this therapy is generally more immediate that room based therapy.  It works on helping to develop skills and personal understanding on issues such as assertiveness, communication, relationships and difficult emotions.

EFP is beneficial for those who feel uncomfortable in room based therapy and can help with an extensive range of issues including: anxiety, depression, anger management, addictions, relationships, autism, abuse, behavioural issues, bullying, low self confidence and many more.
