Sandy Kempson

Having spent much of my business life working in a human resources capacity, when life circumstances dictated a complete change, I decided to take the opportunity to pursue a career in counselling.

Initially, I trained as a psychodynamic counsellor with a BACP accredited training centre in Mid Kent.  Post graduation, I completed further training in CBT, (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DIT, ( Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy), and EFP, ( Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy).

I am an accredited member of the BACP, ( British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), who are a regulatory body for the counselling profession and I abide by their code of ethical conduct.  I also commit to ongoing personal and professional development to maintain a high standard and to continually keep up to date with advances in our profession.

Having had the privilege of being around my own horses for over 25  years, training as an EFP practitioner was a natural career progression.  I passionately believe in the remarkable and hugely rewarding value of being in the presence of horses and wanted to be able to offer this completely different type of therapy to my clients.  I trained with LEAP, who are a regulated training organisation for EFP.  LEAP are widely recognised as an innovative provider of EFP, with a focus on a creative and living model of therapy that allows the therapist to mould the work to the particular needs of each client.

I have previously worked in Primary Care for the NHS in North Kent and South London, with adolescents in Private Schools in East Sussex and for various charitable agencies in East Sussex and Kent.

As an accredited counsellor, I strictly adhere to the Ethical Principles of the BACP and am fully committed to Continuing Professional Development to ensure I keep up to date with current information relevant to my private practice.  I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and am licensed with the ICO as a data controller
